Abstract

This research is within the framework of cognitive linguistics, specifically on construction grammar, as a branch of this school. An attempt has been made in terms of details, beliefs and main lines of construction grammar to study of the morphological structures of Kurdish language and grammar. For this purpose, both the Inflectional and Compounding processes of construction morphology in Kurdish have been tested. Examples and practical aspects are provided for the analyses. The aim of this study is to analyse the morphological structures of Kurdish grammar from the perspective of one of the latest schools and approaches of grammar research, as known as Construction Grammar. The research approach is perceptual analysis. Analyzing the examples and trying to arrive at their perceived dimensions constitutes the working approach of the research. Using this approach directly answers a question such as: (What is the philosophy behind the morphological structures of Kurdish? Why does a morphological rule apply only to a number of morphemes and not to all others!)? The answer for this question is related to the Construction Morphology, which is: Any linguistic structure must consist of the duality (form-meaning/action). From this perspective, linguistic forms are always paired with the action they represent. Deviation from this characteristic, does not make the structure constructive. This is the latest linguistic observation about the morphological structures of Kurdish, which must always the Aspects of use and execution of forms should be the main contributors to constructions.
