The Process of Naming and Renaming in the View Point of Kurdish Individual

Abstract

This study entitled “The process of naming and renaming in the view point of Kurdish individual” that tackles naming as a phenomenon and social process in any society. This process is a major part in language and language reflects the view point of and ideology of society. Naming is a considered as a fully social process and all social principles such as; religious, political, educational, nationalist, cultural, artistic... etc. will affect every individual in the society in the process of naming. Name as a social process, is one of the important categories of the human’s intonation and pronunciation component. For that reason, in order to recognize things around  them and distinguishing from the beginning of human’s life as well as learning languages, humans depended on drawing things and then moving to another level which is naming them.  In addition to that, this study talks about the view point of Kurdish individual in renaming most of the things around us through the effect of the conflict of senses since naming and renaming affect the positive and negative sides of an individual. In the other words, if the name was an appropriate one and has a good and attractive meaning, it will obviously have a positive effect. In contrast, sometimes the meaning of the name would be an attitude or praise that is not matching the person or thing that the name belongs to. This will lead to the idea that naming and renaming has either a positive or negative psychological effect on the individual person.
