Introducing Character in the Novel of “The Nights of Adam” By Bayan Salman”

Abstract

This study, entitled “Introducing Character in the Novel of” The Nights of Adam By Bayan Salman,” is an attempt to show the ways or methods of introducing characters either through narrators or through other characters in the novel. It is believed that understanding the different methods of introducing characters helps the readers of novels to understand the characters better and have deeper knowledge about them. From this perspective, this study presents the presentation of the character and its role in describing the character in the mind of the reader, because the presentation of the character in a detailed way makes the reader feel that the novelist has succeeded in giving an image and identity. The aim of this study is to demonstrate how the characters are presented in this novel. The study uses the theory of social criticism. This study consists of two major parts. In part one, the styles or methods of introducing characters are presented theoretically. In chapter two, the methods of introducing characters in The Nights of Adam. The study is ended by presenting the conclusion of the study through numerous points, Most of the characters in this novel are based on indirect characterization, because the characters are intellectuals and full of saying to express themselves.
